Three New Routes on Bighorn Wall This Winter

Spring is approaching and we’ve been busy this winter with three new routes on Bighorn Wall, including the crag’s second 5.11! They are less than one minute walk right (east) past Shake the Frost, route 25 in the Ya Ha Crag Mini Guide. They are listed below in order from left to right.

Feats of Strength 5.11a . . . 10 bolts, 21m

Route on the left pictured below. Sustained and technical, a real test of your face climbing skills.

FA: Adam Matias, Feb 2024. RD: Adam Matias & Deryn Blakley, Feb 2024.

Joint Effort 5.10a . . . 11 bolts, 23m

Route on the right pictured below. Climb through the rock scar onto blocks and ledges before puzzling your way through the crux, staying right through the roof.

FA: Tyler Doucette, Feb 2024. RD: Adam Matias, Rick Felber, Edward Edmundson, & Jonah Godwin, Jan 2024.

Gorloo’s Dungeon 5.10a . . . 6 bolts, 15m

Follow the corner, then pull on jugs through the small roof. Some tricky slab moves lead to more good holds and the anchor.

FA: Xavier Gorloo, Nov 2022. RD: Adam Matias & Deryn Blakley, Nov 2023.
